The DC-3 Society was born to organize the collective efforts of enthusiasts, pilots, mechanics, and operators to involve the next generation in “FLYING FREEDOM.”

2024 Legacy Tour

A total of 11 vintage WWII-era DC-3s and C-47s, based around the world, proudly comprised the 2024 Legacy Tour Participating Aircraft lineup.

​

While a few were unable to fly the mission due to unforeseen circumstances, each aircraft remains an official part of the tour, having undergone significant preparation and contributed to the effort in meaningful ways.

WATCH OUR DOCCUMENTARY FILM

Into Flight Once More is the cinematic chronicle of the D-Day Squadron’s recreation of the Allies’ historic journey to Normandy for the 75th Anniversary of D-Day.

Narrated by Gary Sinise, Into Flight Once More brings the history of June 6, 1944 to life through the eyes of one squadron and their epic transatlantic mission. As they retrace the original path across the North Atlantic, the film introduces us to some of the last surviving D-Day veterans, alongside a new generation of men and women committed to honoring their legacy.

 

Into Flight Once More is available to stream on all major platforms, and on DVD and Blu-Ray.

FOUNDING FLEET 

15 vintage WWII-era DC-3s and C-47s, based across the country, make up the D-Day Squadron and DC-3 Society’s founding fleet.

 

These historic aircraft returned to Europe in 2019 to commemorate D-Day 75 and Berlin 70, retracing the journey of the Greatest Generation.
